I’m Dr. Adam Carter.
As a fourth-generation doctor, I understand that patients are more than the sum of their charts – they’re people who are trusting you with their care.
I learned this long before I even started med school. At age 12, my father, Dr. Maurice C. Carter, put me on the phone with a patient of his who was the same age, alone in the hospital, and scared. We just talked for a bit and then went back to our lives, but the interaction left an impression on me. Not only was my father’s practice notable for his skills as a physician, but for his deep care as a person.
As a physician, those are qualities I’ve brought into my own practice.
That’s why my focus is more than just patient outcomes, it’s about guiding them through the process. Which means I am always truly dedicated to listening to patients, their doctors, care providers, and families at every step of their healing, so they feel seen, heard, and understood.
For over twenty years, I’ve brought this approach to treating patients in New York and Texas, where I progressed from an attending physician to director of medicine at a chain of hospitals throughout the country.
My private practice is no different, focused building a team of the best caregivers and providing productive steps, no matter how complex the case.
As for my life outside the office:
I was born and bred in Manhattan, I now split my time between the Big Apple and the Big D with my family; wife, Margot (an entrepreneur), our son Jack (who works in business development for the Dallas Trinity FC. Dallas Gets It Done!), and daughter-in-law Wendy (a tech consultant.) We also have a golden doodle, Exy, who loves chicken to a near-insane extent.
My other interests include good food, travel, musical theater. So much so in fact, that while I can’t carry a tune myself, I currently serve on the board of Broadway Dallas. I’m also working toward my private pilot’s license.
Oh, and I run the occasional marathon.
